Dear André, I keep finding myself in the same situations, the same struggles, the same frustrations. No matter if at home or at work, the patterns repeat. I would like to know why this is happening?- A Weary Traveler
Dear Weary Traveler,
There is something relentless about life’s patterns. They arrive, uninvited yet familiar, like an old song played on repeat. We think we have moved on, grown past them, yet here they are again - different settings, different faces, same uneasy feeling. And so we ask: Why?
But perhaps a better question is: What becomes possible through their repetition?
Because if these patterns return, then surely they serve a purpose. Not a punishment, not a cosmic joke, but an invitation, one that you may not yet have accepted. We often assume patterns are obstacles, things to be conquered or avoided. But what if they are not barriers, but signposts? What if they persist not to torment you, but to teach you?
And then, there is this: Are these patterns truly negative? Or is it simply that they make you uncomfortable? That they pull you into places you would rather not go? A repeated conflict, a recurring failure, a cycle of self-sabotage - yes, these can be painful. But not all discomfort is bad. Some discomfort exists to wake us up.
You ask why they keep appearing. But I ask you: What do you do to invite them? Not consciously, not willingly, but quietly, through habits, through fears, through unspoken beliefs that shape your decisions before you even make them. The patterns are not just happening to you. They are responding to you.
And once you see that, you might begin to wonder: Have I ever considered disinviting them? Not by resisting, not by forcing them away, but by shifting something deeper. By breaking the silent agreement you have made with them. Because patterns do not simply appear; they are given space to exist. And the moment you decide, truly decide, that they are no longer welcome, that is when the cycle begins to break.
So perhaps the question is not why these patterns keep returning, but what will you do differently when they do?
With quiet recognition,
André
